A senior Russian army officer has been killed following an explosion in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

The event took place on Monday morning when an explosive device placed beneath a vehicle exploded, leading to the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov was the head of the armed forces' department for training operations.

The committee mentioned that one possible explanation suggests the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. At this time, Ukraine has offered no public response.
