American-Palestinian Youth Released Following Nine-Month Period in Israeli Custody

An Palestinian-American adolescent who spent a nine-month period in Israeli detention without being charged was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention in February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after experiencing mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment over several months."

American authorities announced ongoing to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership considers paramount than the safety and security of American nationals"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to diplomatic officials and the White House, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children managing a frozen treats business from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

There were no visits or communicated with his son since the arrest, and only heard regarding the treatment through judicial records.

The teenager remained absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.
